Accommodation description from the host:
The most famous and beautiful beach of Alicante is undoubtedly "Playa de San Juan". The beauty is - it is right in your neighborhood. The beach is accessible to everyone and has a fine-grained, first-class sand. Playa de San Juan is an endless 7 km long and on the beach promenade there is a wide range of restaurants and beach bars, some of which are also in the middle of the beach. From your villa, this paradise is only 2 km away.
The beach is very close to the golf course Alicante Golf. Numerous public parking lots are available in the immediate vicinity. There are various sports such as beach volleyball, soccer, surfing, etc.
Alicante has many treasures to offer, but the most visited attraction is undoubtedly a building that rises majestically above the city: Santa Bárbara Castle on Benacantil Mountain. Here you will find 1000 years of history, which is only 8 km from your villa.
A short walk from this prominent and largest medieval fortress in Europe, which was declared a historical-artistic monument and cultural asset in 1961, you will find the port of Alicante. It is located in the heart of the Mediterranean city. The Palm-lined promenade, Explanada de España, built of millions of mosaic stones, leads directly into the beautiful harbor quarter. There are many restaurants offering local fish specialties and international dishes. In addition, you can enjoy the lively atmosphere in the harbor, with a refreshing drink of pubs and bars. Several discos and shops are also located in the exclusive Hafenviertel. From your villa it is only 8 km to the port.
"Rien ne va plus" also means in Alicante, because in the best location, in the center of the city, the Casino Mediterraneo is located - directly at the harbor with a majestic view of the famous Santa Barbara Castle.
If you are interested in culture, you are also right in Alicante. The historical city offers just half a dozen museums, which are famous all over the world for their exhibits and artifacts. The most famous is the Archaeological Museum. It is considered to be the best museum in Spain and was awarded the prestigious "European Museum of the Year Award" in 2004. It offers an interesting historical journey in different periods: Prehistory, Iberian Culture, Roman Culture, Medieval and Modern. More than a hundred thousand year-old objects, Iberian pottery, an account of Roman everyday life, and more than three hundred items from the Middle Ages can be looked at. The museum also provides information about the archaeological sites Lucentum, Petrarcos and Illeta. Thanks to modern audiovisual technology, the museum also brings the visitor closer to archeology in the most advanced way. It is an innovative museum that focuses on visual didactics. The Archaelogical Museum is just 7 km from your villa.
1 km further you will find the next museum: The Museum of Contemporary Art. It is housed in the oldest building in the city, in Baroque style dating from 1685, and is located next to the famous Santa Maria Basilica, the oldest church in the city. The museum has three permanent collections: the important art collection from the 20th century with works by Miró, Dalí, Juan Gris, Julio González and others; The Juana Francés collection, which was donated to the museum by the artist after her death in 1990, and the Eusebio Sempere collection, acquired by the city administration of Alicante in 1997.
As mentioned above, next to the Museum of Contemporary Art is the magnificent Basilica of Santa Maria, the oldest church in the city, dating back to the 14th century. And you should definitely visit them too, because if you enter through the heavy, baroque door you will be thrilled by the splendor and opulence. This building is so incredibly beautiful that it will take your breath away. The church ship is a masterpiece of Valencian Gothic and the altar dates back to the late 14th century. The Venetian baroque organ is from 1653.
Palm trees, palm trees, palm trees ... everywhere. When you visit Elche / Alicante, you will experience an exotic scent in the air that comes from over two hundred thousand palm trees. The Palmenhain in Elche is one of the largest in the world and the largest in Europe. It was declared a World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 2000. The palms are the characteristic element in the entire cityscape of Elche. The highlight, however, is the famous "Huerto del Cura" (Priest Garden). Here you can admire (for a small entrance) the incredible variety of palm trees. Ponds and a Mediterranean vegetation will enchant you. From your villa is this plant paradise 39 km away.
